Best Practice Consultation

Benefits to consultation processes

Genuine consultation about your proposal can be very rewarding for scientists because Māori will view your proposal and shed light on any future opportunities or risks from an entirely different angle. There will be benefits to researchers arising from discussions about the social, cultural, ethical and spiritual dimensions of their research project. Having good dialogue around your research proposal should also set up future connections between scientists and Māori.

For more a more detailed discussion on positive and compelling reasons for scientists to engage with Māori also see the section “why engage with Māori”.
